About American Global Resuscitation Association

Pioneering resuscitation medicine standards worldwide since our founding in Colorado, USA.

Who We Are

An Organization Built for One Purpose

AGRA is a non-profit professional association headquartered in Colorado, USA, uniting resuscitation scientists, emergency physicians, and master instructors under one mission: to make life-saving resuscitation the global norm, not the exception.

We were founded by clinicians who had seen too many lives lost in the gap between what resuscitation science knows and what frontline responders can actually deliver. That gap — of training, of standards, of access — is what AGRA exists to close.

Today, AGRA operates as a single, integrated ecosystem. Our researchers generate the evidence; our educators translate it into curricula; our certification body validates that the skills are real. Nothing leaves our system untested, and nothing stays locked in a journal.

From Colorado to communities in 50+ countries, our work is measured by one metric above all: lives saved, and lives that could be saved with the right skills in the right hands at the right moment.

Mission

Our Mission

To promote the development of global resuscitation medicine and make professional emergency skills accessible to more people through our integrated "Research-Training-Certification" system.

We do this by closing the distance between discovery and delivery — ensuring that a breakthrough in one lab reaches a responder on the other side of the world within a single training cycle, not a decade.

✓ Excellence in every program we deliver
✓ Integrity in all our research and operations
✓ Innovation driving continuous improvement
✓ Accessibility making quality training available to all

Vision

Our Vision

To become the world's leading authority in resuscitation medicine standards, education, and innovation — saving more lives through knowledge and preparedness.

We envision a world where every community has access to high-quality resuscitation training, where evidence-based guidelines are universally adopted, and where survival rates from cardiac arrest continue to improve year after year.

We will know we have succeeded when survival from out-of-hospital cardiac arrest is no longer a matter of luck or zip code, but the predictable result of a prepared, connected world.

How We Fulfill Our Mission

Three Commitments

🔬

Advance the Science

Fund and publish rigorous resuscitation research that reshapes how the world responds to cardiac arrest.

🌐

Scale the Skills

Build a global instructor and training-center network so life-saving education is never more than a short distance away.

🏅

Set the Standard

Define the certifications and guidelines that mark true competency — recognized across borders and disciplines.

Milestones

How the Standard Was Built

A short history of the decisions that shaped our curriculum, assessment rubrics and research agenda.

Standardising the Basics

Our first work focused on the fundamentals: what a rescuer should be able to do, how compressions should be measured, and how to train those skills so they survive contact with a real patient.

Assessment With Rubrics

Observation alone was replaced by timed, written scoring criteria. Trainers could then give specific, defensible feedback instead of a general impression.

Linking Science to the Classroom

Research findings began feeding directly into course revisions, so a guideline update reached learners in the same cycle rather than years later.

Going Multilingual

Materials were localised rather than translated loosely, keeping terminology accurate so that a course taught in Chinese, English or another language carries the same meaning.

Measurement Harmonisation

Work has continued on consistent outcome measurement across centres, so that a study result from one hospital remains comparable with another.

A Closed Learning Loop

Today research, education and certification run as one system: evidence sets the standard, teaching delivers it, and assessment data feeds the next research question.

Governance

Medical Advisory Board

Our curriculum, assessment standards and research agenda are overseen by practising clinicians and resuscitation scientists drawn from emergency medicine, critical care, paediatrics and emergency medical services.

🩺

Emergency Medicine

Board members practising in emergency departments shape cardiac arrest and trauma protocols from first contact onward.

🫁

Critical Care & Resuscitation Science

Intensivists and resuscitation researchers review course content against the latest evidence before it reaches the classroom.

🧒

Paediatrics & Neonatology

Paediatric specialists lead age-specific content so that infant and child algorithms follow the same evidence base as adult care.

🚑

EMS & Pre-Hospital Systems

Pre-hospital clinicians ensure our guidance is deliverable outside the hospital, where时间与设备都不同。
